IMPERFEKTI 4: kielteiset lauseet

Täydennä aukkokohdat imperfektin kielteisillä muodoilla. Lue sääntö ensin. HUOMAA, että heittomerkki tehdään tähtinäppäimessä ( * ) olevalla merkillä ( ' ) (ENTERIN vieressä)!

Malli: I wanted to go to the cinema. I didn't want to go to the theatre.


Myönteisissä lauseissa sinun on muistettava, että on olemassa kahdenlaisia verbejä: 1) säännöllisiä, jotka saavat imperfektissä ED-päätteen, esim. need - needed ja 2) epäsäännöllisiä, jotka saavat imperfektissä erityisen muodon, joka täytyy oppia ulkoa, esim. catch - caught.

Kielteisissä imperfektilauseissa sen sijaan ei ole merkitystä millaisesta imperfektistä on kyse, sillä imperfekti siirtyy kielteiseen apuverbiin DON'T/DOESN'T, joka muuttuu muotoon DIDN'T!

Esim. 1) I watched the news yesterday. I didn't watch anything else.

Esim. 2) My uncle caught two salmon last weekend but he didn't catch any pike (=hauki).

Muista siis, että riittää, että vain apuverbi muutetaan imperfektiin! Muuten syntyy 'kaksoisimperfekti'! Pääverbi säilyy perusmuodossa.

POIKKEUS: BE-VERBI. BE-verbin yhteydessä ei saa koskaan käyttää do-apuverbiä eli kielteisissä lauseissa ei käytetä don't/doesn't/didn't-muotoja. Niiden tilalla käytetään vain NOT-kieltosanaa, joka yleensä lyhennetään muotoon n't. Esim. I was not --> I wasn't; They were not --> They weren't.

2) Bill went to the theatre yesterday. He to the cinema.

3) He lost his umbrella after the show but he his wallet.

4) I did my sums well yesterday but I my English homework that well, I'm afraid.

5) Mr Jones taught us physics and chemistry but he us history.

6) The children saw some foxes in the nature park but they any bears.

7) Simon spoke some French on holiday but he Spanish.

8) He always had some cornflakes for breakfast but he any porridge.

9) I wrote about Australian animals at school. I about the main sights in Australia.

10) My parents were in China last year. They in Japan.

11) The weather was sunny yesterday but it warm.

12) My dad gave me some pocket money yesterday but he more than 10 euros.

13) My dad made the dessert but he the main course.

14) I knew all the answers in the English test but I them all in maths.

15) I bought new glasses for myself last week but I any sunglasses.
